DataZoo is a data repository and publishing system currently in use by multiple projects including the California Cooperative Oceanic Fisheries Investigation (CalCOFI) and two Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) sites, California Current Ecosystem (CCE), and Palmer (PAL). DataZoo provides a web-based interface to a database storing multidisciplinary data, metadata, and study information. This interface allows users to query the database and access data on a project, cruise, or dataset basis.

Associated tools allow users to refine searches to a specific station or region, join multiple studies into a timeseries, and compare data across projects. Data providers can use the system to manage their own data and metadata through a user-friendly interface. DataZoo has been designed and developed by the Ocean Informatics team collaboratively with community participants. It is an open source, open architecture using Apache, MySQL, PHP, JavaScript, and XML.
Datazoo is organized into three main sections: Data, Resources, and Management. Each sections supports a specific activity orientation. The Data section of this site is an interface to a primary MySQL data and metadata backend designed around finding and then searching, viewing, plotting, uploading and downloading the data. The Resources section provides views into integral backend dictionaries as well as access to useful and informative applications and documentation. The Management section provides community members an interface for creating datasets, editing metadata, and a number of other tasks.
